Radio Outreach Project Reports
Through the financial support of many, many BDA groups and members, the BDA Intergroup was able to hire a media company to help script and then produce and distribute both a 30-second audio public service announcement (PSA) and a 60-second audio news release (ANR).
Please visit Radio Media Outreach Resources to listen to the audio recordings and to read the cover letter sent to radio stations. We anticipate performing a smaller radio outreach project in autumn 2021 and a large project, if funds allow, again in the spring of 2022. And so on ...
Our purpose in performing these radio outreach projects is to carry the message to our fellow debtors, especially those who may not have heard of us yet. As an anonymous organization, we keep no reports of newcomers and members or how they first heard of us. So that is an impossible measurement for our radio outreach efforts.
However, we can measure the effectiveness of attracting radio stations to play our PSAs and ANRs.
The first report below (one page) represents the number of airings and projected audience for our audio news release, as well as the designated market areas (DMAs) in which our ANR would have been heard. In this case our ANR was played every Sunday in April 2021 for a total of 3,349 airings to a projected weekly audience of 3.6 million listeners. This is a one-time report for radio outreach activity in the month of April.
The second report below (two pages) represents the number of airings and projected audience for our audio public service announcement (PSA), as well as the designated market areas (DMAs) in which our PSA would have been heard. In this case our PSA was distributed in April 2021, and we have data from mid-April through June 2021. So far, with one more month of reporting to come, our PSA has been aired a total of 3,402 times to a projected total audience of almost 4.7 million listeners.
Regarding the PSA reporting each line on the two-page report represents one radio station; that's why there are duplicated DMAs. In adherence to our Traditions, we have not included the call letters for these radio stations. For members, groups, or Intergroups who would like the call letters for the radio stations in specific towns, cities, states, or regions, please send an email to email@example.com to request those details. We will have one more PSA report at the end of July. The PSAs will likely continue to play, but we will receive no more data about those airings.
